Meet Chris Pierce from Peachtree Planning!
Are you originally from Mobile?
No, my family and I moved here from Charleston, South Carolina two years ago next month because my wife got an amazing opportunity at the Mitchell Cancer Institute. Before that, I was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and raised in Connecticut.
Tell us a little bit about what you do.
I have worked in finance ever since I graduated from the College of Charleston with a degree in finance. Currently, I work for Peachtree Planning which is based out of Atlanta, Georgia and has offices throughout the Southeast. We offer our clients comprehensive financial planning for both individuals and business entities.
I think when it comes to providing financial planning services the most important aspect is education. There are a lot of firms who can help you make money for your retirement, but I like for my clients to understand what we are doing, how we are doing it, and why we do it. Additionally, I went on to get my CFP®, ChFC®, RICP®, and CExP™ certifications to ensure I provided my clients with the best information and service.
How did you hear about Container Yard?
I found out about Container Yard a few months ago through Johnny Gwin, one of the founders of Container Yard and owner of Deep Fried Studios. My wife, Jennifer, is a Gynecologic Oncologist at the Mitchell Center Cancer Institute who recently started a podcast called, the Cancering Show, which Johnny produces. Back in the beginning of the podcast process, we all had lunch together and Johnny told me about Container Yard and the big move that was about to take place. One day when my wife was recording at the studio in Container Yard, I decided I would pop in and look around and here we are now.
Why did you choose coworking?
Even though I do work for a company out of Atlanta, we all act as our own bosses with our own clientele and I am the only representative of Peachtree Planning in Mobile. Container Yard provides me professional aspects such as a private office, as well as, a conference room which I can use as needed to meet with clients. It wouldn’t make sense for me to join an office park when Container Yard meets all of my needs perfectly.
What do you like to do for fun?
I love lacrosse. This season will be my ninth season as a coach. So come cheer on the St. Paul’s high school team, as I lead them to victory!
What is your favorite thing about Mobile?
Honestly, my favorite thing about Mobile is definitely the people. When we first arrived here in Mobile, we got the best welcoming from our neighbors and our two daughters’ school. It was truly the best one I've ever experienced and I have moved around quite a bit. It means a lot when you are the new person and the outsider to have people that are willing to support you and help you through the transition.
